Christmas decorationsAt Loop the Loop, we love Christmas and the excuse to adorn our home with simple, rustic festive decorations. We particularly like creating a space which combines and brings together things from the wild outdoors with elegant, stylish home ware pieces such as white porcelain and ceramic doves and angels, which we love to hang on the sprigs of a single tree branch, set in a rustic wire zinc basket, or delicately hung from a window. It’s always lovely to embrace the traditions of Christmas and although we like the white and grey ‘look’ this year, we can’t help but add a little bit of red here and there. Our large paper pompoms are perfect for adding that extra festive touch to a home Christmas display, especially if you like the vintage Christmas style. We tend to hang a variety of paper stars and paper pompoms from the ceiling of our kitchen to achieve a bright, colourful, fun and dramatic Christmas display. In our lounge, I really like to add lots of cosy Christmas decorations, from Christmas fabric bunting, lots of holly and ivy, logs stacked high in the log basket and lambs wool blankets draped over the sofas and chairs to keep us all toasty and warm in the evenings.Together with foraging for Christmas decorations from the great outdoors, we can’t help but add a touch of timeless elegance with mecuried glass tea light holders and beautiful silver glass hanging decorations and baubles. Our small dew drop baubles are perfect for adding a touch of vintage style to your Christmas tree together with our silver table name settings. We’re also keen to keep things simple and adore Scandinavian Christmas style and decorations. They strip things back to nature and really focus on the quality and natural beauty that nature has to offer. By adding a simple decoration to a window, mantelpiece or light they can create a spectacular festive effect. Their approach is definitely ‘less is more’, and we really admire this and have introduced some of the Nordic style into our own range of products and presentation here at Loop the Loop. We love this rustic, elegant, down to earth style and hope you do too. Now let’s get decorating…xx There is nothing better than relaxing on the sofa with your favourite feather cushions and wool blanket, as the nights turn cooler why not treat yourself to one of our luxurious hand printed cream cushions with stunning bird design or 100% wool cream and herring bone cushions. If you prefer more floral scatter pillows then we have teamed up a new UK designer to bring you our unique collection of contemporary floral cushions. If blankets are what you are looking for then we have found a local artisan who makes luxurious chunky knit merino wool blankets exclusively for us in a range of colours, or if you prefer a traditional woollen blanket then our luxurious lambs wool throw will be perfect for you. Mirrors have been in existence since 6000C although wide spread production of them started in venice in the 16th century. Mirrors have come in many different shapes and sizes, pocket size reflectors through to looking glasses and vanity mirrors and bevelled edge mirrors. Mirrors have always been a part of home décor and although most have a cosmetic use, a mirror or looking glass placed correctly will brighten and enlarge a room. More recently, bevelled edge mirrors have become very popular this is because the of curved shape and bevelled edges give the mirror a practical use but also creates a decorative centre piece and focal point for a room that resembles a picture or artwork more than a practical mirror. View our mirrors here Wicker log baskets, have, for a long time been the tradition way to carry and store logs in the house, whilst traditions are great, it’s always fun to find new and interesting ways to accessorise your home. We have found that metal vintage French grape collecting baskets, make for great log baskets and again add a rustic style to your home and if that’s not how you like to store logs then our handwoven jute bags are great for the task and in the summer months make for great toy bags. Electric lighting was first invented by Thomas Edison in 1878 since then, lamps and lights have evolved in any number of ways; Pendant lamps, hanging lights, indoor, outdoor, bedside/desk lamps and floor lamps are all present in any home today. Perhaps one of the major steps to incorporate both practicality and style was the Anglepoise lamp. Invented in 1933, the Anglepoise light was modelled on the constant tension principle of human arm. The lights first use was for factory workers to illuminate their work but it soon became clear that the Anglepoise was equally at home as an accessory desk lamp or reading light. For more information on Anglepoise, the Design Museum has a lot more information. http://designmuseum.org/design/anglepoise developing the idea further, necessity of invention and evolution of interior design bought with it the floor lamp, more specifically the flos Arco floor lamp, designed by Achille Castiglioni. More information here http://www.arcofloorlamp.com/ or view our range of lights and lamps here. for a many years halogen lights were the objects of choice for many people designing their own home. Now, with the interest in vintage and Scandinavian design, pendant, rise and fall hanging lamps are found in the kitchens, hallways and sitting rooms of the design elite. Many people prefer to buy new lamp shades from companies like loop the loop but others like the rustic/vintage appeal of old enamel factory lamp shades, we visit flea markets and architectural dealers on a regular bases and have supplied many customers with their perfect lamp shades. Building on our vintage and Scandinavian style we have found that reclaimed industrial style wire shelving works really well in the bathroom, kitchen and utility room. These retro storage shelves have often been reclaimed from factories and locker rooms and when added to your home in the right place add a real industrial vintage twist as well as being practical. Glass keepsakes display cases offer the same stylised storage edge whilst at the same time retaining a charm that only comes from displaying your trinkets and keepsakes. A well placed cloakroom hook rail in the hall way or wooden coat trellis in the kitchen can add a real stylised edge to you home while at the same time incorporating the practicalities required for a real homely home. Also add that industrial or old locker room feel to you home with our antique galvanised hook rail or if you prefer you home ware accessories to be more decorative then our white bird coat hooks are perfect. Bell tents, blazing fire pits and glowing lantern keeping you warm during cool Summer nights, and hand painted enamel cups and bucket barbeques for those feasts on the beach.Next summer, be the envy of every glamper or caraglamper with our selection of pretty and practical camping accessories including vintage foldable stools, merino wool blankets, lamb’s wool blankets, deer hides and essential camping enamel ware.
