A night under the Brecon Beacon Stars

We’ve just had the longest day of the year and Summer has arrived with glorious sunshine. So, I thought I’d put together a collection of fantastic rural retreats to stay here in the lovely Brecon Beacons. Places to make the most of the long, light evenings, escape from the rat race and places that offer total relaxation. We are based in the Brecon Beacons and with its beautiful sweeping landscapes, valleys, mountains, there is no better place to recommend. Plus, did you know that the Brecon Beacons is also an International dark Sky Reserve? so it happens to be one of the best places to gaze at the stars at night. Here are our suggestions of where to stay:

The Huts in the Hills:

I only came across these huts recently but was immediately smitten and if I didn’t live so close I’d book myself in for a few nights. These huts are located in a woodland clearing and offer great off-the-grid accommodation for those looking for an adventure. With stunning Hay’s Bluff as the backdrop, these comfortable and very reasonable huts are a great little hideaway. Plus, I love their large fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows!

Bluebell Shepherds Huts:

These quaint and luxurious shepherds huts are surrounded by rolling hills and stunning views of the Black Mountains. Wake up to birds singing and sheep grazing nearby, the perfect retreat for the nature loving and those looking for peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Wheat Silo:

Another great find by Canopy and Stars, this unique, converted wheat silo has been very cleverly converted into a modern and stylish place to stay. I love the corrugated exterior, definitely a holiday destination with a difference.

Millbrook House: http://www.sheepskinlife.com/relax-at/millbrook/

Sheepskin Life offers gorgeous holiday homes, their specially hand-picked collection of large luxury houses and boutique retreats always look so inviting. One of my favorite choices for here in the Brecon beacons is the stunning Millbrook House. It’s a Grade 2* Listed Monmouthshire Hall, nestled on the edge of the Black Mountains. It marries together contemporary creature comforts with its 16th century past. A place to relax and spoil yourselves for a week or so.
